What is discipleship?
The term discipleship, is a term that is not new for many of us. This is the term that we have heard so many time even out of Christian organisation. So it is much important and of great value to understand it from the Biblical perspective and understanding. According to the Bible point of view, Discipleship meant much more than just transferring information from oneself to another but learning, observing, imitating and following the footsteps of the teacher.
( A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher. Luke 6:40)
It meant doing everything possible to become just like the teacher, living and presenting oneself like the teacher does. That means that those who are raising disciple, should set good examples that can be imitated by those looking upon them in terms of character and behaviour.
Jesus Raised Disciples and instructed the to raising disciples
Jesus being a good example to the christians before ascending to heaven He instructed His disciples to go and raise disciples, teach them to follow His footsteps.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)
What are this things that Jesus had commanded His disciples to teach others. The bible in the book of Luke 9:23.

The need of being a disciple maker
What does that mean, if you want to become a child of God and like Jesus is the son of God, you need to become like Him. Deny your own will to do the will of the Father. Just like Jesus came to save those who were lost, the forsaken and the neglected. And so is the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG).
The founder of the Universal Church started the church with the great passion of reaching out to those neglected and rejected by the community. Bishop Edir Macedo, saw the need to reach out to the poor and neglected, offering them practical support and spiritual guidance to help uplift and transform their lives.
The same Spirit he extended to his Bishops, Pastors and the Assistants. Teaching them the importance and the need of serving others. The same is passed from generation to generation.
It started with Bishop Macedo to the Bishops to the pastors to the assistants to the helpers and the service to God is growing. The Bishop raising Bishop, Pastors raising Pastors, Assistants Raising assistants as the the work keep growing.
