The Reconciliation Sunday

People might easily stray from their faith without even realizing it in a world full of distractions. Even something as simple as skipping a few Sundays or delaying prayer can eventually result in total disengagement. Many people who used to be involved in the church and connected to God now feel alienated and uncertain about how or even if they can go back. Having spoken of this, what comes to mind is reconciliation.

For this reason, on November 16, the Universal Church is getting ready for a unique occasion known as “The Sunday of Reconciliation.” Reaching out to people who have strayed and assisting them in finding their way back is the day’s straightforward goal.

Similarly, the biblical account of Abraham describes how he set out to save his relative Lot. He had wandered off in Sodom. The narrative serves as a metaphor for perseverance and compassion—not giving up on people we care about even when they’ve lost their way.

This has nothing to do with criticism or blame. It’s about compassion, empathy, and the conviction that anyone can start over. Some people who have strayed away are still content with their chosen lifestyle and are not prepared to return. However, this day is an invitation to return home for those who feel that something is lacking. Even if you’ve never left the church in person, your heart may be distant from God.

Mission

Perhaps you’ve persuaded yourself that God is no longer listening to you or that prayer is no longer effective. Maybe something unpleasant occurred, and you don’t understand why He permitted it. You may even believe that going back is only for other people and not for yourself. Alternatively, you may be trapped in a loop of mistakes, unable to see a way out, and think that going back won’t change anything.

However, it might not be a coincidence if you are reading this right now. This warning may be your cue to take a different course. “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live,” declares the Lord God in the Book of Ezekiel 33:11. In another passage (Ezekiel 18:22), He pledges to erase all transgressions and forget about them.

Put another way, it’s never too late to start over. Everybody has another chance on the Sunday of Reconciliation to regain serenity, rekindle hope, and rekindle their relationship with God.

Every Universal Church will welcome anyone who is prepared to make that move on Sunday, November 16. You are cordially encouraged to return—back to faith, back to hope, and back to God—regardless of how long you have been gone.
